SurfSim is a shareware program that plays the relaxing sound of the surf over your Mac's speakers. It's designed to run in the background, creating a pleasant aural backdrop while you use other applications. The PowerPC version features optional active panning stereo waves (headphones only) for added realism.
Unlike other natural sound players, SurfSim creates the audio from scratch. This method has a number of advantages:
- The sound never repeats- you'll never hear the same wave twice.
- You can adjust the tempo and timbre of the surf.
- The application has a very small RAM footprint.

If you use SurfSim for more than thirty days, you must pay the shareware fee. Registered users will receive a postcard with an ID and password which can be used to remove the shareware notices.
